Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays to all my friends! I've been super busy the last 3 weeks with something new....

This is my daughter's new puppy, Sophie :-) She's a 'teddy bear', which means a cross between a Shih Tsu and a Bishon Frise...and I have to say she is absolutely adorable! Soft hair like fur (that doesn't shed!!) and she's super smart and loves people.
While we've been working on housebreaking I've managed to get in a little bit of tattings and created these little Christmas Wreath holiday tatted earrings.
I hope to post some more stuff soon!

Holiday Spices

The sounds and scents of the holidays will soon be upon us. I love the scents of holiday cooking and wanted to make a pendant about spices. This is my Holiday Spice Tatted Pendant, made using Lizbeth threads and inspired by a 1916 edging.

Available in my etsy shop ( https://www.etsy.com/listing/113406106/holiday-spice-tatted-pendant-free or on my website ( http://www.PeachtreeCottage.com )

I already have another idea using these same colors...so watch this space for another 'spice' item to be posted soon.

Vineyard Butterflies

I know I know...I said I was going to work on some winter stuff, but I just love the colors in the Vineyard Harvest Lizbeth Thread. So here's a quick little pair of earrings with some "Vineyard Butterflies"...hehe

Available in my Tatted Delights etsy shop - https://www.etsy.com/listing/113066264/vineyard-butterfly-tatted-earrings-free

And I just got in another thread with fall colors so there might be some more fall stuff before I get to winter...lol...just saying....

Autumn Leaves

I've really gotten into the fall season this year and have been enjoying the autumn colors. Add to that some great patterns from various designers for leaves and other things and well....it's made my fall enjoyable :-)

This time I used some greens to make up some little leaves as earrings. The leaf design is by Joelle Paulson and I used size 20 shaded green thread. I think they make a perfect size for earrings :-)

These are available in my Etsy Shop - https://www.etsy.com/listing/112969119/autumn-green-tatted-earrings-free

Now it's time for me to start working on some winter stuff. :-)

My First Tatted Dragon

Ever since I first saw them I've wanted to make up one of Anne Bruvold's tatted dragons. Well I finally managed the time to work on one! I thought it would be more complicated than it was but it wasn't nearly as difficult as I had expected. Instead of doing SSMRs I worked split rings on the tail/body. This one has been called my Cotton Candy Tatted Dragon because of the colors in the thread. Hope you all like him as much as I do! I'll definitely have to make more of these!

I'm also working on a design by me! hehe....I have the picture in my head and most of how it will work up in my head. I need to tat it up (writing down the instructions as I go) and then find some way to get it diagramed. It's my next tatted project so hopefully it won't be too long before I can show it to you.

My tatted items can be found on my website - http://www.PeachtreeCottage.com or in my Etsy shops - http://PeachtreeCottage.etsy.com and http://TattedDelights.etsy.com

Vineyard Elegance

I recently saw several tatters working with 'doodads' and wanted to give it a try. Joelle Paulson had a lovely pattern for one, so I ordered some doodads. When they arrived I took my shuttles (which had Lizbeth's Vineyard Harvest already on it from making my Vine Bracelet) and starting tatting away. The result is the Vineyard Elegance Set.

I did the full pattern for the pendant and did a shortened version for the earrings. I think the set is lovely and noticed it will really coordinate well with my Harvest Vine Bracelet too!

They are available in my etsy shop ( http://PeachtreeCottage.etsy.com) or from my website ( http://www.PeachtreeCottage.com )

Vine Bracelet

I wanted to have a simple bracelet design so I started playing around with some thread. This is what it ended up being.

I call it my Vine Bracelet and it's my own design though probably very similar to some simple edgings or things others might have done. I just tatted, wasn't looking at any pictures or diagrams. I took notes of what I did so I could make more in other colors if people like this one.

I think it looks like a vine runing back and forth so I call this my Vine Bracelet. This particular one was done in Vineyard Harvest Lizbeth thread so its name is Harvest Vine Bracelet.

Update: I've found a very similar design on free-tatting.com however the knot counts are different from the ones I used. Plus that one has picots that this one does not. I was not aware of that pattern's existance when I created this without a pattern.

Some Pumpkin Fun

Just for fun I made up a quick earring and pendant set of pumpkins. They are only about 1 inch big (small?) but cute and were really quick and easy to make.

Double Maple Leaf Bookmark

I love working up maple leaf designs and decided to take two of them, one by Tammy Rogers and one by Joelle Paulson and put them together as a double leaf bookmark using some Lizbeth thread in fall colors. Here is the result:

The Lace Mat

I recently decided to work on Jon Yusoff's Tat-a-long for The Lace Mat by Norma Benporath and charted/diagramed by Jon Yusoff. Mine uses Lizbeth's Purple Iris Fusion and Purple Iris Dark (size 20). The completed doily measures 9 inches across from point to point.

I loved working on this and really like how it turned out!

Fall Is Here!

It's turned chilly, and the leaves on the trees are turning a multitude of beautiful colors. This prompted me to make another set of Yarnplayer's Maple Leaf Earrings. This year I added some gold beads around the edge and I love how they glitter in the light. I will definitely have to make more things with BEADS ! (It's sooo much easier now that I have a big eye beading needle. YAY!)

Aren't they pretty?!

Lost and Found

I was looking at my etsy listings and saw some that needed better pictures, a couple of which were tatted bookmarks. So I went into my storage box where I put my completed tatted bookmarks, etc and pulled out the items that needed new photo sessions. When doing this I came across a tatted bracelet that I'd made but somehow had over looked and never put up in a listing. Duh....wonder what else I will find in that box!

So I took a couple of pictures and quickly listed my Ocean Blues Tatted Bracelet. I don't remember if this is someone else's design or not, if it is I will give credit when I find out.

This bracelet has white beads down the center and pale blue beads along the edges. It's made with a toggle clasp.

Iris Cascade Tatted Earrings

My daughter suggested I make more earrings in this design and make them in a variety of colors. I'm currently working on a tat-a-long doily with these colors and thought they would make pretty earrings. So I made up a pair and they sold within 24 hours of listing them. Since they were so successful I made a 2nd pair and now have them available again in my etsy shop. I call them Iris Cascade.

A Girly Girl Kind of Cross

The next thread I decided to play with was Girly Girl. I've been wanting to make another cross and wanted something that was a bit frilly but not too much. The Maria cross by Lene Borjn fit what I was looking for perfectly. So, now I present to you, my Girly Girl Kind of Cross:

Motif # C2-9:

I love the colors in this. The soft and deep pinks and the soft and deep purples go so well together! I will definitely be using this to make something else soon.

This cross bookmark is available in my Etsy Shop - https://www.etsy.com/listing/113633624/girly-girl-tatted-bookmark-cross-free or on my website - http://www.PeachtreeCottage.com

Pink Marble 2

The way I won the Handy Hands free threads was by naming one of their new thread colors. The name I suggested was used ... Pink Marble. The thread is a very pretty pink and rose with gray which reminded me of pink marble with gray veins running through it.
I decided to make a couple of things with it. First I made a bookmark which I posted about on June 6th, 2012. This time I made a pendant and matching earrings.
Motif # C2-8:
The pendant and earrings are available in my Tatted Delights Etsy Shop - http://TattedDelights.etsy.com

Pink Marble

Since I won the contest for naming "Pink Marble" I figured I needed to make something with it to show how it works up. Here's a bookmark I made with it which really shows off the Victorian Rose, Pink and Gray colors. I'm also working on a pendant and earrings with this thread too

Playing With Threads

I just had to play some more with some of my new Lizbeth Threads. This one is "Scottish Thistle". I love the softness of the colors and think it worked up wonderfully as a pendant/earring set!

Motif # C2-6:

Available in my Etsy Shop - http://PeachtreeCottage.etsy.com

Also as a little surprise for a friend of mine, I've worked up another Tissue Box Cover. She said her house was mainly 'beach' type colors, so I tried to make the colors go with that in mind. I'm rather pleased with how well it turned out.

This is not available for sale but if anyone wants a similar one or one in different colors, just contact me. I'll be happy to make one up for you!

I'm Back !

I know it's been a while since I've posted anything. Mainly that's because I was unable to make things due to a bad wrist injury. It's taken 5 months so far to heal and it still bothers me at moments on a daily basis. However the wrist is about 90% healed and I'm able to work again, at a slower pace, but at least I'm able to create :-)

I also was one of the lucky winners of Handy Hands contests for their new threads. They selected the name I suggested for their new color Pink Marble, and they also liked the 'marble' idea so much they also called the purple version Purple Marble. They wonderfully gave me 2 sets of winning, which means I was able to select ** 50 ** balls of thread. I got all the new colors and all the ones I've been wanting to get and a few others as well, in all the sizes I wanted. Needless to say I'm in Thread Heaven right now !!

Of course I had to give these new threads a try, but because of the wrist couldn't work on them too long. So I took Kirsti's Stumpy design and with a bit of finagaling made a pendant and matching pair of earrings with the new Green Coral Sea thread.

Motif # C3-5

I liked the way it worked up, however the colors were brighter than I thought. I had thought they had a more muted, washed out tone. It did work up beautifully though.
Both of these are available in my Tatted Delights Etsy Shop - http://TattedDelights.etsy.com
I hope to have more things made soon. I'm currently working on a couple of baby sweaters and have a new baby afghan design I want to try. I also have a thread crochet bunny in the works from before the injury that I'm hoping to finish up soon.

In The Works...

I've been a bit quiet lately. Why? Two reasons.

First - My injured wrist got reinjured (I shouldn't have tried to pick up the computer - ugh), so it's aggrevating me and I am trying to let it rest as much as possible.

Second - I have a customer order that I'm working on. It's a rather large order and included having to create a new design. I won't give it away just yet, but I hope to make this my first published design when I'm done with the order. Once the order is done I should be able to draw up a pattern diagram and write out the instructions as a pattern.

Here's a sneak peek:

It's a rather large design and this is only a small piece of it, but I can't give away what it is just yet :-)

So....while I might be a bit quiet...I am here. I am working. I am creating. I hope you all are too :-)

Getting Ready for Valentine's Day

I got a chance to do a little bit of tatting so I made up a couple of Valentine Heart Bookmarks. The first is from a very pretty design by Irene Woo. I tatted it in thread that is shades of pink then added a cord with a coordinating motif on the end.

Motif # C3-3:

The next one is a white lace heart which surrounds a red paw print in the middle. I thought this was a great design by Heather Johnston to show some pet love :-)

Motif # C3-4

They both can be found in my Peachtree Cottage Etsy Shop - http://PeachtreeCottage.etsy.com

Happy New Year!

Whew! Last minute sales and orders right before Christmas, along with the typical holiday activities, kept me from getting much new work done. I'm hoping to get off to a good start this year!

Hope Everyone is having a Wonderful New Year!
